Keep your pooch safe with a dog playpen!
The dog pen is one of those items that every indoor dog owner, especially those with puppies,
really does need to invest in. While some people say that dog cages are cruel, the truth is that they really aren't
unless you leave your pup in them for days without food, water or attention. The honest truth is that keeping your
pooch out of trouble when you aren't around is one of the best things you can do for your pet and yourself, and a
great way to do that is with a dog playpen.
Dog playpens and dog cages are an excellent tool for dog owners who can't always be home with their pets,
especially when they are young and untrained. You have two choices when dogs are young, you can put your pup into a
dog cage or dog pen for a few hours while you are out and keep them out of trouble, or you can let them roam the
house and discipline them when you come home and find your couch pillows shredded. Clearly using a puppy playpen is
a far better and kinder option.
When looking for a playpen for dogs you can find a wide variety of them online and in department stores as well. A
standard dog playpen is a really affordable item running around $50 or less for a dog pen that is about 4 feet in
diameter. If you find yourself pinched for space a dog cage may be a better option. While they won't allow your dog
to play as freely, a dog cage will still offer plenty of room to move around comfortably. Dog cages range in size
from 2 to 4 feet in length and are usually between $25 and $50 depending on the size you opt for.
What is important to keep in mind when setting up a dog playpen or your new dog cages is that you should be sure to
keep your pup comfortable while they are in there. Provide them with toys and a nice blanket or pillow to sleep on.
If your pooch is going to be in their dog playpen for more than a couple hours you may also want to include food
and water. While this may lead to a bit of clean up when you return home, your dog's health is far more important
than the time it takes to wash the dog cage floor.
While a playpen for dogs can be a great resource to use while you are at work, or are out at the movies, you should
never leave your pet unattended in a dogs playpen or cage for an extended amount of time. A puppy playpen is a
great tool, but it is not a substitute for a sitter when you take a weekend trip.
When used in moderation, a dogs playpen or cage can be a great resource for a dog owner and a fun, safe environment
for you pooch as well. With a few toys, snacks and comfort items, your dog playpen can become a 5 star puppy pad
for use when you head out to catch a show or get called into work unexpectedly. As any dog owner will tell you, a
dog playpen is a great tool when used with proper care.
